Tadaaaa! With great pride, we present the tenth edition of our writers-and-translators-in-residence program The Chronicles. This year, we asked five young, talented authors to write a daily report of their festival experience. A team of seven equally emerging and talented translators will translate their work into English, Dutch and/or French. The result of all this can be found every day through this link. Our eyes and ears this year will be: Aura Xilonen (Mexico), Eline Lund Fjæren (Norway), Lize Spit (Belgium), Rowan Hisayo Buchanan (England) en Siham Amghar (the Netherlands). The translators’ collective consists of: Jeske van der Velden, Kristen Gehrman, Mathilde Vuidar, Maud Gonne, Myrthe van den Bogaert, Noel Hernández González, Wouter de Jong and Marta Eidsvåg, the winner of the Harvill Secker Young Translators’ Prize.

During Crossing Border, the translators follow a masterclass in literary translation, courtesy of the Translator’s House Amsterdam and the Dutch Foundation for Literature. The masterclass is organised in association with The Hague Library.

These Chroniclers will also make a live appearance at the festival. On Friday 4 November, the authors read from their work and on Saturday, the translators and authors will be interviewed collectively by Jelko Arts.
