Ghayath Almadhoun

After seven years, another collection of poetry by Ghayath Almadhoun was published in spring: I Have Brought You a Severed Hand. Translated from Arabic by Djûke Poppinga.

On the collection and the poet:
'You say I escaped the war. No, love, no one escapes war. It's just that I didn't die. I stayed alive, that's all.'

Ghayath Almadhoun (b 1979) is a Syrian-Palestinian-Swedish poet. He was born in the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus as the son of a Palestinian father and a Syrian mother. Almadhoun lives alternately in Stockholm and Berlin.
